Genre analysis of the Studio Classroom: A focus on the lesson explanation move

This paper describes a genre-based approach to the analysis of language use in the Studio Classroom, a radio English teaching program in Taiwan. It explores language use, at the lexical-grammatical and discourse levels, within the situational and socio-cultural context of the Studio Classroom genre. Of the three moves identified in the initial analysis I intend to focus on just one: the lesson explanation move.
