This talk is a preliminary investigation of a quantitative model that predicts the F₀ values of Cantonese tones in various serial positions of an utterance. F₀ scale is modelled in terms of 3 parameters: Fr (the reference F₀), S (pitch span/range), and T (phonological tones). The proposed form of the model is F₀= Fr + S^T.
